A few days ago, members of the Windows Insider program expressed their surprise, and their disapproval, while testing the latest build of Windows 11. The object of their complaints was the arrival of advertising in the explorer of files, as can be seen in the image below:
The message displayed encouraged the use of Microsoft Editor, but other users made by a message concerning the use of PowerPoint.
When asked about this by our colleagues at The Verge, Microsoft’s senior program manager Brandon LeBlanc said that he ” This was an experimental banner that was not intended for external posting and has been disabled.
The display of messages in File Explorer was therefore an error, but it proves that Microsoft has thought of this function and that it could perfectly appear in future versions of Windows 11.

This type of self-promotion in File Explorer is not new since Microsoft had already tried to do it in 2017 in Windows 10, to promote the paid options of its OneDrive storage service.
Advertisements, which Microsoft describes as recommendations, also appear in the Start menu, on the lock screen and sometimes even in the taskbar. What greatly annoy users.
