Wilmer Bach-Lundin, 19, has written history in the Postcode millionaire.
He is the youngest millionaire winner in the program ever.
– It is a sick thing, and I will remember that forever, says he.
Wilmer Bach-Lundin from Stockholm is the youngest millionaire winner in Postcode Millionaire. With his 19 years, he took home one million kroner in the episode that was broadcast tonight – and on the last question he didn’t even have to use the last lifeline.
– The fact that I know strange things that no one else can has led to me sitting on a million. It is a sick thing and I will remember it forever, says Wilmer Bach-Lundin to TV4 Nyheterna.
Madonna helped him reach the million
The deciding question was which of the movie stars is not mentioned in the lyrics of Madonna’s song Vogue. For Wilmer, who describes himself as a big fan of the artist, it was a perfect question.
– I was so relieved when the question came, it was like the irony of fate. I’m a huge fan of Madonna, he says.
Even though Wilmer was sure of the answer, he chose to use his last lifeline. “You shouldn’t waste,” he says in the program.
– The production suggested that I should use all lifelines. I thought it would be more fun that way, but in retrospect it feels a bit thoughtless, he says.
“If I had been given Jonas von Essen’s million dollar question, I would never have passed it”
Wilmer faced questions in geography, pop culture and Swedish – subjects he felt comfortable with.
– The only really difficult question for me was about what you call a group entitled to vote in Sweden. The answer was the voter register, and I actually had no idea about that. But other than that, everything went well, especially in the second program, where I didn’t need any lifelines at all.
He notes that luck was on his side.
– If I had been given Jonas von Essen’s million question, I would never have passed it, says Wilmer, referring to a previous winner’s final question.
Was splurging on the money at the luxury department store
Since the win, Wilmer has treated himself to a couple of shopping sprees at the NK department store, but he is saving most of the money for a future apartment purchase.
– I was very poor when the program was recorded. So it was a blessing in the moment.
– There are not many 19-year-olds who can enter Stockholm’s housing market. I feel very grateful.
