Katie Moon, USA
Jarno Koivunen: He is still the fastest of all the pole vaulters. However, the difference between a good and a bad jump is much bigger than, for example, Wilma. However, Moon has the most energy in his jump due to his running speed. Of course, last year he had leg problems and didn’t even jump at full speed. He still won. He is not one of those who go over all the heights on the first pass. It can be decisive sometimes.
Nina Kennedy, Australia
Jarno Koivunen: Nina Kennedy is such a jumper that on a good day, all heights are cleared on the first try. He has done many jumps this year that would have taken 480.
The maximum potential is not as strong as Moon. If the rankings are fought by knockouts, then Kennedy can be tough. He loses a lot in reach, but he’s really good on the fence.
Tina Sutej, Slovenia
Jarno Koivunen: Can reach the medals with a clean game. Can jump between 470-480. I don’t think he can win the race.
Sandi Morris, USA
Jarno Koivunen: Morris, who did well in the prestigious competitions, has had a more difficult season. He had a crown at the time of the American championships. He is a potential jumper because of his good running speed.
They were already eliminated in the qualifiers
Before the World Championships, Jarno Koivunen named New Zealand as Murro’s number one challenger by Eliza McCartney, who surprisingly already missed the qualification. McCartney injured his leg in qualifying. He attempted the 450 three times, but the last time he had to abandon his performance.
Canada too Alysha Newman was one of Murro’s challengers on Koivunen’s list. However, Newman failed to qualify with a score of 450.
Murto cleared the qualification with a clean game and crossed the qualification limit of 465.
