Pole vaulter Wilma Murto was responsible for the best Finnish ranking of the World Championships so far. Murto, who jumped brilliantly, was sixth in the race with the best 460 of the outdoor track season.
This is the best ranking achieved by a Finnish woman at the World Cup level since the 2003 Paris Games, when Mikaela Ingberg was fourth in the javelin. Also in between Paula Tarvainen was sixth in Helsinki 2005.

– For a moment I thought that the bar was left and quite a lot of others also thought that it was. But then I thought no, Murto said in an interview with .
Murro’s ranking is Finland’s all-time best in women’s pole vault at the World Cup level. Minna Nikkanen was tenth in 2015 with the same result. Murto was fifth at the Tokyo Olympics.
Sixth place is Finland’s second place in points in these games. Silja Kosonen was seventh in the women’s moukari final held on Sunday evening. Finland currently has five points.
The United States took a double victory in the race. Mixed Katie Nagoette that Sandy Morris jumped the top result of the world statistics 485. The victory was marked for Nagoette, who cleared that height with his first. He won Olympic gold last year. For Morris, the silver was already the third in the World Championships.
The pole vault competition was also of a very high standard. Australia took the bronze Nina Kennedy with a result of 480. Places four and five were taken with a result of 470. Murto was the third best European in the race.
