WILLOW SERIES. It’s the big day for fans of the movie Willow. Almost 35 years later, Ron Howard’s feature film is getting a sequel in the form of a series on Disney+.

Become cult for a whole generation of children from the late 80s to the 90s, Willow is an adventure film in a fantasy universe where a young Nelwyn discovers himself a true adventurer and magician in a quest to save a baby prophesied as savior of the world over which reigns the terrible Queen Bavmorda. In her adventures, Willow meets the warrior Madmartigan, a human of dubious morals but with a big heart who will help her in her quest and fall in love with Princess Sorsha, daughter of the evil queen who will also end up returning her love. . At the end of a great battle, Bavmorda is fallen and Willow returns home, welcomed by the other Nelwyns as a hero and now a full-fledged magician.
In 2022, Willow returns to the front of the stage with a sequel in the form of a series on Disney++. Several actors resume their role in the image of Warwick Davis, back in the role of Willow. Joanne Whalley is also in the cast of this series in the role of Sorsha, now queen of the kingdom of Tir Asleen freed from the yoke of her mother. If we are to believe the trailers revealed by Lucasfilm and Disney before the broadcast, others will also return: Phil Fondacaro, the Nelwyn warrior named Vohnkar, but also Kevin Pollack in the role of the elf Rool. At this stage, there is no indication that Val Kilmer appears in Willow’s sequel series. The actor who nevertheless camped Madmartigan, the second main role of the film of Ron Howard, is suffering. He has been battling throat cancer for several years.
Ron Howard, who directed the original film, does not take over the camera for this sequel but serves as executive producer of this series created by Jonathan Kasdan, screenwriter among others of Solo: a Star Wars Story. The series, made up of 8 episodes, features the return of Warwick Davis in the title role. On the scenario side, we will follow a new adventure led by a group of heroes accompanied by Willow on a quest to remote lands where they will have to do everything to save their world from a great catastrophe.
Just in time to wow audiences for the end-of-year period, the Willow series began streaming exclusively on the Disney+ platform on November 30, 2022 with the first two episodes. In total, the eight episodes of the Willow series are scheduled to air from November 30 to January 18, 2023.
If Warwick Davis takes over the title role of Willow almost 35 years after Ron Howard’s first film, no information has yet filtered out as to a potential appearance of Val Kilmer in the series. And for good reason, the actor has been fighting the disease for several years.
