William Poromaa sprinted down Calle Halfvarsson and took WC bronze.
Now the bronze hero pays tribute to his teammate and makes a nice promise.
– I need Calle, he is incredibly important to me, says Poromaa to Sportbladet.
It was an all-Swedish showdown for the World Cup bronze in the five-mile last Sunday. No one could beat the Norwegians Paul Golberg and Johannes Hösflot Kläbo for the gold and silver, but behind it, it was extremely exciting about the ski WC’s very last medal.
Poromaa’s bronze
The Swedish Cup William Poromaa and Calle Halfvarsson settled for the bronze medal all the way to the last and after a blue-yellow sprint battle, only seconds separated the compatriots. Youngest would prove to be strongest and the 22-year-old sprinted down the 33-year-old on the run to claim the very first championship medal of his career.

Afterwards, it was an extremely disappointed Halfvarsson who missed out on a WC medal in what was perhaps the last WC race of his career.
– I’m not that disappointed that I lose third place to Wille. He deserves that. But it’s more that you join in and fight for victory. But I couldn’t have done more, said an emotional Halfvarsson to Viaplay.
– It is difficult to feel joy. But if I digest this a little, I will be able to feel joy.

But if you ask the bronze hero Poromaa, he refuses to let Halfvarsson quit the national skiing team and pays tribute to his teammate with wonderful words after the medal drama.
– Calle is such a great man who is happy for others, what a person. He is an incredible skier and an even bigger personality. I am so grateful that he was by my side and shows how fast you can ski, says Poromaa to Sportbladet.
