William Poromaa receives criticism from the Norwegian riders for his behavior

First he was hit by a Norwegian.
Then William Poromaa was told that he himself was the problem.
– I’ll tell you that if there are any who cause trouble, it’s Poromaa and Anger, says Harald Östberg Amundsen to Sportbladet.

The Swedes have had a tough start to this year’s Tour de Ski in Italy. Actually, it just is Edwin Anger who has performed so far as he is in fourth place in the men’s overall standings after two stages. On the ladies side lies Ebba Andersson in seventh place and Lynn Svahn is two places behind.

Poromaa was disappointed after the mass start

Something worse is possible William Poromaa. He is indeed twelfth in the overall standings, but could have been higher had it not been for the fact that he missed a podium place in the second stage in Toblach after he was hit by a Norwegian just before the race. He lost momentum after being tackled from the side Martin Löwström Nyenget – he ended up finishing tenth in the 15-kilometer race in classic style and mass start.
– It will be tight. I feel that I have a good position and get hit a bit and have to stop. It’s right on the hill when you have to get up to speed as well. Then it will be difficult, he tells Sportbladet.

William Poromaa was not too keen on the idea of putting a mass start as the second stage of the Tour de Ski, especially not immediately after a sprint.
– Honestly, I don’t understand what’s good about this stage. It creates the conditions for a lot of trouble with sprinters starting at the front and distance skiers trying to get ahead. It will just be chaos, he says.

The Norwegian criticism of William Poromaa

After the race, some of the Norwegians told Sportbladet that they were not surprised that William Poromaa was involved in an incident. Löwström Nyenget himself apologized and said that it was nothing personal, but his compatriots, on the other hand, were harsher in their tone towards the Swede. Johannes Hösflot Kläbo said that “it was nothing new” and that Poromaa was “getting into trouble even with his own teammates”.

Also Harald Östberg Amundsen had something to say about. He also took the opportunity to send a boot to Edvin Anger.
– I’ll tell you that if there are any who cause trouble, it’s Poromaa and Anger. When they are in the group, they should think about whether they should perhaps stay a little more in the background sometimes. There are so many of us and everyone must show consideration. Some of these guys can show a little more consideration and they get terribly angry when something happens around them. But they create many of the situations themselves.

What do you say about this situation? Can William Poromaa blame himself, or are the Norwegians crossing the line in their criticism? Feel free to write a comment on Sportbibeln’s Facebook page and share and like-mark the article.
