But some time ago, Frida Karlsson and William Poromaa moved apart for the sake of their careers.
Now Poromaa talks with honest words about what it’s like to be away from the girlfriend.

They met in their teens during a skiing competition and have been together ever since. But just over two years ago, they decided to move apart and sell their terraced house in Sollefteå.

The reason was that both Frida and William needed to split up for the sake of their careers and move to different cities to get the best possible training opportunities. Karlsson moved to Östersund and Poromaa went to Sundsvall.

Honest words
Since then, the estranged family has had a long-distance relationship and it has been a problematic time apart, William Poromaa now admits. In a new interview with Viaplay, the 22-year-old talks honestly about his current relationship with girlfriend Frida.
– People wonder why you don’t live together, asks Viaplay’s reporter.
– Yes I understand that. It is clear that it is probably shitty. But särbo, isn’t that right inside now? I don’t know, says Poromaa to the television channel.

But it is not quite optimal for the relationship to live so far apart.
– It works well for us. Or well, maybe it doesn’t. Because the relationship is maybe… It’s clear that it’s up and down, Poromaa says in the interview.
– But I think we both pretty much agree that we want to do what’s best for skiing right now. Then it feels like it’s best to live where you want to live and where you think the training is best for yourself. I guess that’s what we’re doing right now.

For Frida Karlsson, skiing is going great right now. The 23-year-old is coming off her best season in the World Cup by far and impressively big during the Tour de Ski when she took the overall victory in grand style. She is the second Swede ever to win the tour and the first since Charlotte Kallas achievement in 2008.
