William Poromaa looks ahead after the breakup with Frida Karlsson.
The Swedish World Cup bronze medalist now opens up about love today.

The Swedish skiing stars William Poromaa and Frida Karlsson was for a long time one of Swedish sports’ most talked about love couple. First, it was Frida who had her big breakthrough already as a teenager when she made a big success during the 2019 World Ski Championships in Seefeld.
Poromaa’s success
Then it was time for boyfriend William to make a serious breakthrough and during last year’s season he exceeded all expectations by taking Sweden’s first WC medal on the men’s side after many years of disappointment. Poromaa struck with WC bronze in the final five miles after a sprint battle with his teammate Calle Halfvarsson.

It also went very well for Frida Karlsson in the WC 2023 and she came home to Sweden with four medals. But immediately after the WC success came the shock news that the young couple had broken up after several years together.

It started with both moving apart and then the duo wanted to wait until after the WC to announce their breakup. Since then, they have continued to be good friends and of course they meet very often during national team gatherings with the Swedish national skiing team.

Ahead of the new ski season, William Poromaa breaks the silence about his love life and admits what his marital status looks like.
– It’s quite calm on the love front. It’s mostly exercise, eat, sleep now actually. But I’m fine with that. I have a lot of focus on myself, it is much needed and good, he tells Sportbladet.

The 22-year-old is enjoying being single at the moment and being able to focus fully on his skiing career, which is about to take off in earnest.
– Every single choice you make in this profession has consequences, so you have to try to do everything you can. I really feel like I can do that now without stepping on anyone’s toes or anything like that. I think it’s very nice, he says to the evening newspaper.
