William Nylander is coming off his best season ever.
But despite that, now comes a really unexpected rumor from the NHL.
Who says that “Lill-Nyllet” may be forced to leave the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The last NHL season was a great success for the Swedish star William Nylander. He delivered an impressive 87 points in 82 games and had his very best NHL season in terms of points.

But despite the great scoring success, he may now be forced to leave the Toronto Maple Leafs already this summer. Reputable NHL insider Elliott Friedman reports that the club’s new general manager Brad Treliving wants to extend the contract with 27-year-old Nylander.

However, according to the same information, the parties are currently far apart in the negotiations. Right now, the Swedish NHL star has one year left on his contract with the Maple Leafs and the salary cap hit is $7 million.

Change NHL teams?
So far, it is unclear how much more Nylander is demanding in the negotiations for a new contract, but so far they are not even close to agreeing, according to Friedman. Therefore, speculation is being raised about a shocking move this summer for “Lill-Nyllet”.

The TSN Insider Chris Johnston, who has a firm eye on the Toronto Maple Leafs, also reports GM Treliving has already begun considering a sensational trade and is exploring possible options that could be received in exchange for William Nylander. Now on Saturday, July 1, the window opens in the NHL and only then can the Swede sign a new NHL contract.

Only then will we find out how the negotiations have gone and if an extension will be relevant or if it will be time for a move to another NHL team.
