William Nylander goalscorer against Nashville – touches the legend’s record

Last night Toronto finally lost against Nashville, but once again William Nylander showed what form he is in.

Star center Auston Matthews gave him a nice backhand pass on the power play and the Swede splashed in 1-0 for Toronto.

After 60 minutes the score was 2-2 when Filip Forsberg had passed to Ryan O’Reilly both goals for Nashville. In extra time, back star Roman Josi made it 3-2.

Nylander’s goal meant he has scored in all eight opening games this season. Something only four Toronto players have done before – legends Frank Mahovlich, Lanny McDonald and John Anderson. The last of them was Anderson and it was the 1982-1983 season.

Already before the night’s match, he was highly praised within the team.

– He has had an incredible start, just like last season, says coach Sheldon Keefe.

– He is on a mission, hopefully can continue like that, Swedish teammate John Klingberg fills in.

Morgan Rielly took in the most of all.

– He is unbelievably good. He is one of the best players in the world. What he can do with the puck and how he sees the game. He is up among the very best, he says.

Nylander has scored twelve points (6+6) in the opening eight games. Only five players in the entire NHL have scored more.
