William Karlsson’s wonderful celebration after the Stanley Cup title makes every hockey lover’s heart melt

William Karlsson won the Stanley Cup.
Then he celebrated – by placing his one-month-old son in the Stanley Cup trophy.
– This is the best year ever, he says afterwards.

It’s hard to say otherwise, because of what a fabulous year it has been for William Karlsson. Just over a month ago, “Wild Bill” became a father for the first time, when he and his wife Emily had their son Beckham. And last night the Swedish star got to celebrate his biggest hockey triumph to date.

Finally a champion

William Karlsson himself was behind a magical assist as the Vegas Golden Knights completely slaughtered the Florida Panthers in the fifth round of the Stanley Cup Finals. Vegas eventually won 9-3, taking the series 4-1 in games. It is the organization’s first Stanley Cup win since entering the league six years ago, and William Karlsson’s first Stanley Cup win.

Karlsson thus became the 43rd Swede in history to lift the Stanley Cup trophy. Karlsson was a bit of an underdog when he was drafted by Vegas six years ago, but he has since become an important cog for the team, and these days there is no doubting his qualities. And when the final whistle blew, the celebration began immediately. And of course the closest family was out on the ice.

Magical pictures

On social media, videos where William Karlsson and his wife Emily, together with their son Beckham, celebrate have been widely spread. Not least when Karlsson chose to place the one-month-old baby in the Stanley Cup trophy – and these are images that make the hearts of the entire hockey world melt. For Karlsson, it has simply been a year to remember for the rest of his life.

– This is the best year ever. First the baby and then the Stanley Cup… it’s unbelievable, says Karlsson to Aftonbladet.

The pictures of when Karlsson got to lift the Stanley Cup trophy are already classic.

– Yes, you’ve seen so many others do it over the years and to be able to hold the beautiful trophy yourself and kiss it a little…ah, it’s just a completely sick feeling, he says.
