From September 2024, several schools will test the school uniform with their students. Is your city one of them?
Uniform at school will officially make its comeback. After having fueled numerous debates within the political sphere, the government decided to set up a “extensive experimentation” in various schools, colleges and high schools in France, announced the Minister of Education, Gabriel Attal. According to information from Franceinfothis measure should be applied at the start of the school year in September 2024, and even from next spring in cities “the most motivated”. The experiment could last two years. The details have not yet been communicated, but according to the latest avenues considered, schoolchildren should receive a kit, consisting of “five polo shirts, two sweaters and two pants”. The cost would be 200 euros, financed by the State and the communities.
For supporters of wearing a uniform at school, this project is an opportunity to avoid stigmatizing a child based on their social rank. But those who are against the idea believe, on the contrary, that identical outfits between students could restrict their freedom to express their personality. Will your child soon have to wear a uniform?

In which countries are uniforms compulsory for students?
In several countries and regions of the world, the uniform is the daily life of many schoolchildren. In Martinique, this is also very widespread since a third of the 218 public establishments on the island require students to wear common clothing in order to eliminate inequalities between them. Beyond that, England is the land of school uniforms. It’s even a tradition: 98% of public secondary schools require the wearing of a uniform at school. In Ireland too, it is required in most primary schools.
Across Europe, in Germany, the uniform has reappeared in recent years in certain schools. In the world, we can cite Japan, Korea… In Canada and the United States, private and religious schools in particular have also established the school uniform for all schoolchildren.
