The unitary platform which unites the major opposition parties to Venezuela asks for three more days. Three days to manage to register before the National Electoral Council its candidate, Corina Yoris, still unknown to the general public a few days ago, who was designated to represent the opposition during the presidential election. She was chosen to replace Maria Corina Machado, who is not eligible to run for office.
All weekend, attempts to register her replacement failed, while the deadline for this process ends today. This registration deadline was imposed recently by the National Electoral Council, known to be biased. The opposition denounces a strategy by the authorities to prevent real representation of opponents during the election on July 28.
So far, the nine candidates already registered are considered puppets of the current government to make a good showing during the election. The opposition is holding its breath.
