Prime Minister Élisabeth Borne has just completed her last round of consultations on pension reform. With the unions, but also with Les Républicains (LR), the only political force likely to ally with the government on this much criticized text and allow it to obtain a majority in the Assembly. The details of the reform must be presented Tuesday evening by the government. And it seems that the government and the LRs have come to an agreement.
The big winner of these negotiations on pension reform could be Bruno Retailleau. The boss of LR senators, who – every year – offers the same text on pensions. According to the former candidate for the presidency of the party, it’s done, the government ended up lining up behind its position: ” I am now convinced that the government will actually land on the Senate’s proposal. First, the postponement of the legal age of two years: from 62 to 64 years. And the second lever is the acceleration of the Touraine reform, that is to say that it is necessary to arrive a little more quickly at the 43 annuities to have a complete retirement. »

Last to have seen the Prime Minister yesterday afternoon, the boss of the deputies Les Républicains: Olivier Marleix, he is not betting on the decision of the government. But in turn proposes to move the cursor up to 64 years old and this is a first: “ A quarter of additional contributions, which makes it possible to arrive, when President Macron leaves, at the end of his mandate, at the age of 63, and to continue on the next mandate until he is 64, that is the only rhythm that seems acceptable to us. »
If this scenario is confirmed on Tuesday, Olivier Marleix will still have the difficult task of convincing all his deputies. And it is not won, before the Christmas break, some of them were still opposed to any postponement of the legal retirement age.
