Will start dialogue with Russia about the war

Donald Trump takes office as President of the United States next week. One of the things on the agenda for the new president to deal with is the war in Ukraine, to help him he will have, among other things, the new national security adviser, Mike Waltz.

Will establish relationship with Russia

In an interview with ABC News he explains how Trump and himself view the war in Ukraine – which Trump previously promised to resolve in 24 hours. A promise that was previously reneged on. Waltz now talks about months instead.

He believes that Trump has turned the conversation around and that the world is now instead talking about a peace plan, instead of several years of war. He also states that he will establish a relationship with both Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelensky.

– From President Trump’s perspective, he cannot enter into an agreement if he has no relationship and dialogue with the other side. We will definitely establish it within the coming months, says Waltz, who also states that preparations have been made for this.

Biden: Putin has failed

During Monday, Biden also gave his closing speech on American foreign policy, and showed a harsher tone towards Putin. He argued that Russia had not achieved any strategic goals since the full-scale invasion, but that the US had achieved theirs.

– When Putin started the invasion, I had two jobs. To get the world to defend Ukraine, the other to avoid war between two nuclear powers. We did both of those things, says Biden.

He also took the opportunity to send a dick to the president-elect.

– We have laid the foundation for the next administration, so that they can protect the Ukrainian people.

Waltz demands Ukraine’s mobilization

Mike Waltz, said that Ukraine has fought nobly, but that the ongoing battles in Ukraine and Kursk resemble a standstill war similar to the First World War – but with consequences of a third world war. He also criticized Ukraine’s mobilization, saying that the problems are not only about a lack of material and support from other parts of the world.

– We need to see that things stabilize on the battlefield, and one of the things we will ask the Ukrainians for is that they solve their problems with recruitment, says Waltz.

He believes that Ukraine has too high a mobilization age and could have had hundreds of thousands more soldiers on the battlefield.

– If the Ukrainians have asked the whole world to go “all in” for democracy, then they must go “all in” for democracy.

Not realistic to throw out every Russian

A stabilized battlefield is a prerequisite for reaching some kind of agreement between the parties, according to Waltz, who believes that the only reasonable way to end the war is through a diplomatic solution.

– It is unrealistic to say that we should throw out every Russian from Ukrainian soil, that also includes Crimea, says Mike Waltz.

A truce would have been a “positive step” for both sides, according to Waltz, which could lead to a negotiated solution to the war.

– President Trump has realized that reality and the world has realized it, says Waltz and adds:

– Everyone realizes that this must be resolved diplomatically.
