Actor Will Smith, who hit comedian Chris Rock, will not be allowed to attend U.S. Film Academy events for ten years.

The American Film Academy bans the actor From Will Smith access to its events for a period of ten years. The ban also applies to the Academy’s best-known event, the Oscars.
The ban was imposed as a result of Smith going to beat the comedian Chris Rockia on stage at the Oscar gala on March 27th. Smith was nervous that Rock, who had hosted the gala, was making a tasteless joke about Smith’s wife.
– I betrayed the Academy’s trust. I deprived other nominees and winners of the opportunity to celebrate and be celebrated for their great performances, Smith said in a statement on April 1st.
At the same gala, Will Smith received an Oscar for Best Actor in the film King Richard: The Story of the Williams. However, according to the Academy, Smith is allowed to keep his prizes.
