After the ear file that Will Smith gave Chris Rock at the Oscars in March, the actor has kept a low profile. But now he speaks out and apologizes in a video clip on Instagram.
– I have tried to reach Chris but the message I received is that he is not ready to talk, says Will Smith in the video clip.
The ear file came after Rock joked that he was “looking forward to ‘GI Jane 2,'” a reference to Pinkett Smith’s diagnosis of alopecia, which leads to hair loss.
The joke drew laughter that quickly died down when Smith took the stage and ear-filed Rock, in what at first appeared to be a choreographed scene. Smith then went and sat down and shouted aloud:
