Will not recover

Nils Molinder55, is one of the country’s most prominent fish chefs. Together with his brother Eric Molinder Nils Molinder runs many restaurants in the Stockholm area, including Melander’s Fish, Sjöpaviljongen, Wärdshuset Ulla Winbladh, Art Bakery, Nostrano and Wedholm’s Fish.

Wedholm’s fish previously had a Michelin star for its quality food and fantastic service. But after five years the star was removed, which Nils previously speculated about how it all came about.

But Nils doesn’t dwell on it as the restaurants are going like a train and as this year he makes a decent revenge in the Chefs’ Battle. The first time he participated was in 2015 when he finished in second place against Peter J Skogström. When the production contacted him for a second round, he was therefore not slow to decline.

– Absolutely the most fun this year is a fantastic casting with a great group who compete, laugh and hang out, he says to News24.

During the third episode that took place on Tuesday, it was Nisse’s turn to throw a party. And according to the participants, his food was the best so far.

– I feel happy when I eat this. This… is seriously the best thing I’ve ever eaten, I think?, said Louise Johansson.

Nils Molinder about the disease: “Three years ago..”

But after a while the conversation shifted away from the food and Nils got a more serious look.

– Now that we’ve been hanging out here for a while… I just want to say that you guys are fantastic… and yes. Three years ago today, I received the news that I…. have cancer. It’s like that when you have small children to get that message. I got a shock and got on my motorcycle and went home. You don’t really understand what you’ve just been told, Nils begins.

Nils had been told that he has prostate cancer and the options were radiation or surgery.

– I chose to operate as you almost always leave completely healthy. But… it didn’t work out that way for me. I belong to this three percent who didn’t really go on.

– What does your forecast look like?, asks Erik Videgård, who himself had cancer.

– No, but I…. I will never recover. There are metastases flying around. So you try to dampen it so it doesn’t get stuck in the wrong place. And yes…. the first Christmas after the announcement was thought to be the last Christmas. So it is this uncertainty that tormented him the most, he says.

After receiving a series of supportive words from his fellow chefs, Nils concluded by saying that he is now hoping for the best and that he wants to end his dinner with joy. Together they rip off the “hot shot” rhyme and then enjoy a hot shot outside by a small fire.
