Xavier Yvon: It’s not a series strictly speaking, but before starting this episode of La Loupe, I strongly advise you to go and listen to another one: the one called “Les canons français de kyiv”, broadcast last spring…
This podcast took place mainly in Bourges, in Berry, where the last French cannon is located… We had observed the meticulous making of the famous Caesar guns, some of which had just been delivered to Ukraine, I don’t don’t know if you remember… We also visited the firing tunnel of the manufacturer MBDA, where the Milan missiles had been tested, also deployed on the front… And then our journalist Sébastien Pommier explained to us that the Defense industry had reduced its objectives in recent decades, in a context of appeasement of conflicts.
Sebastien Pommier: But war changes the game, because today we make weapons to make peace. In any case, this is how the French government boasts and encourages the promotion of its arms sector.
For all these reasons, this episode on the canons is a good starting point. Because today, we’re going to look at another piece of cutting-edge equipment from another European country: the German Leopard 2 tanks. We won’t show you where they are made, because those interest are already ready, for more than thirty years… But like the Caesar guns, they could mark a new stage in the evolution of arms deliveries to Ukraine… To, perhaps, tip the war.
