Netflix has not yet announced a sequel. The streaming start is still fresh, the success cannot yet be assessed. Foxx explained to Screen Rant:

we [Jamie Foxx und Dave Franco] talked about it last night and have some great ideas. Netflix doesn’t always do a sequel, but based on viewer reactions, we have a good chance. It’s just fun.

Of course, that’s also snippy puns, but that doesn’t make the sequels any less unlikely. In the end it all depends on the success of the horror comedy. It holds its own bravely at number 1 on the Netflix charts. But that didn’t stop the streamer from dropping adventures in the middle either.

There is no concrete evidence of a sequel story yet. The story of Day Shift doesn’t have a cliffhanger conclusion either, with the death of vampire queen Audrey (Karla Souza) and the rescue of Bud’s family. Nonetheless, the film builds a rich world here, which is just crying out for a sequel.

Two vampires and a vampire hunter as a bickering trio. Snoop Dogg as a casual cowboy. Lots of horror lore that is far from exhausted. And what about the mysterious vampire boss El Jefe, who is constantly mentioned in the film? Day Shift is the ideal starting point. Not only for part 2, but for a whole series of films.

When is horror action Day Shift 2 coming to Netflix?

If the horror comedy is successful enough for a sequel, Netflix will announce a sequel in the next few weeks. However, a start date for Day Shift 2 is difficult to estimate. The first part was filmed from April to August 2021 and came to Netflix on August 12, 2022. So part 2 could appear in the stream at the beginning of 2024.
