What do PAS reporters encounter now?
PAS detectors are not licensed and are therefore illegal. This makes it difficult for them to get a loan, for example. For example, farmers may want to build a sustainable stable (which in many cases is required by law), but they may not be able to do so financially. They ask for a loan from the bank, but the bank does not want to pay out a loan to an illegal company. This means the farmer is stuck in his or her business operations.
In principle, it is the government’s turn to help farmers out of their problems, but reducing nitrogen is not happening fast enough nationally. That is why many provinces are now looking for ways to help PAS reporters.
