Leading until the end, Croatia experienced a huge disappointment and is very likely out of the playoffs.

There was drama in Group B of the European Football Championship as Italy drew 1-1 against Croatia in the dying seconds of the match. Mattia Zaccagni scored a wonderful equalizing goal in the eighth minute of extra time, after which the referee blew the game over.

Croatia led the match for a long time and was on the way to second place in the group. The lead goal was scored in the 55th minute of the game Luka Modric, who moments earlier missed a penalty kick. Modric became the oldest player to score in the European Championships at the age of 38 years and 289 days.

With the draw, Italy became second in the group and will face Switzerland in the quarterfinals. Croatia’s situation in the comparison of the group three looks inconsolable: it can advance to the playoffs only if Slovenia suffers a crushing loss to England and no other team comes from behind.

Having already secured the group win earlier, Spain took a 1-0 victory over Albania, which remained the jumbo of the group. Finished the Spanish goal Ferran Torres.

On Tuesday, the C and D groups will be played at the European Championships. Here is the program for the day:
