It was already around 09 o’clock on Sunday morning that the wild boar sow was identified – outside its enclosure.
Since then, they have tried to push her back, but so far have not succeeded.
– When they tried to stop her five times without success, she realized that someone was chasing her. Right now she is smarter than we are, says CEO Glenn André Viste Bøe.
Large part of the park closed
Now they have closed down large parts of the forest area, and only a third of the park is open. In the middle of high season and a park full of guests.
– Don’t know how long it will take. The important thing for us is to solve it with the wild boar and take care of the guests, says Glenn and explains that both the zoo’s staff and external hunters are involved.
Risks euthanasia
At 3 p.m., the wild boar was deep in the forest, a few hundred meters from their enclosure. It is therefore now believed that it will be difficult to drive back the wild boar suckling.
– The alternative is indoctrination or euthanasia in the worst case. It can be taken out on site, depending on the situation we get, says Glenn André Viste Bøe.
