Why will Final Fantasy VII Rebirth be exclusive to PS5

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will be exclusive to PlayStation 5, due to a huge bonus Sony’s new console has.

Square Enix announced Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, the anticipated remake of FF7, in June. The game, which was shown in the special presentation held in honor of the 25th anniversary of the first game, excited the fans of the series. However, contrary to the recent trend of the gaming industry, the new game will be released exclusively for the PlayStation 5 console. The reason is now clear.

Why Final Fantasy VII Rebirth will only be released on PS5

With Yoshinori Kitase, producer of the Final Fantasy VII series an interview donegives the answer to this question quite clearly. “After escaping Midgar, the stress of loading is a huge bottleneck as the adventure takes place in a vast world. We felt we needed PlayStation 5 features to overcome this and navigate the world comfortably,” says Kitase. This directly reveals the reason why PS5’s high-speed SSD has become more than a necessity for Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

In the continuation of the interview, Kitase says that the players’ locations in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will be different from the original game. “Our policy is essentially not to cut (restrict) anything, although you may find that it has changed when you visit some places,” he explains. It looks like we’ll be able to visit old haunts like the Costa Del Sol.
