Why wasn’t this done? In Bruce Almighty 2, Jim Carry was supposed to return as Satan, and that’s not the weirdest thing about the plan

Why wasnt this done In Bruce Almighty 2 Jim Carry

When Bruce Almighty came out in 2003, Jim Carrey was still one impressive till magnet in comedy. The film, in which its main character receives the powers of God, grossed an impressive 484 million dollars worldwide at the time with a budget of 81 million dollars.

Unsurprisingly, screenwriters Steve Koren and Mark O’Keefe then worked on an idea for a sequel, which never materialized. Probably the idea was with one satanic carrey and Jennifer Aniston as a zombie is a bit too crazy for the studio.

Bruce Almighty 2 sequel plans starring Jim Carrey sound terrific

According to Variety, the Bruce Almighty writers discussed their idea for the upcoming sequel, called Brucifer, in the SyFy interview. It was supposed to be Jim Carrey’s character after the death of his girlfriend Grace (Aniston). succumbed to the dark side and become Satan himself.

But that’s not all, because his powers should bring Grace back from the dead. The resurrected Aniston would not be in her human form, but first as a creepy zombie returned! The zombie idea came from Carrey himself, who is said to have been enthusiastic about the script concept.

The darker tone, despite which the Bruce Almighty sequel should still be a usual funny comedy, apparently had a deterrent effect on those responsible for the studio. In any case, Brucifer never got beyond the pure pitch. A sort of sequel to the hit comedy came out in 2007 with Evan Almighty, in which Carrey was no longer involved.
