Summer vacation is approaching and you don’t have anyone to come and water your green plants? If you’re away for a week, if you water them well before you go, they can hold up, but if it tends to be hot in your house or you’re away longer, your lovely houseplants may dry out. We found on the web a trick well known to gardeners, but unknown to individuals, that of the ball of wool. The principle ? That of the well-known capillary watering but with a variant!
On the TikTok social network, Yoann and Clarisse, two lovers of green plants, from the account plantabulle.frexplain to us in a video already seen more than a million times, this simple and economical technique which allows several green plants to be kept alive during a long absence with a simple basin, a ball of wool and water.
Here’s how:
- Fill a large bowl or salad bowl with water.
- Place it near your green plant.
- Cut a large piece of yarn.
- Place one end of this wire in the soil of your plant and the other side in the container filled with water.
- If you have several plants, replace the bowl with a basin.
- Place your plants next to the basin.
- Cut the same number of wool threads as plants.
- For each plant, repeat step 4.
