Noah Lyles of the United States has a chance to win the world championship in the men’s 100 and 200 meters in Budapest. First you have to figure out the country’s rock-hard qualification.
The world’s fastest runner always fascinates and especially when he is superior.
Jamaican Usain Bolt is known around the world even outside sports circles, because he won the 100 and 200 meter race with historic certainty.
Bolt succeeded in the sprint double championship at the World Championships in 2009, 2013 and 2015 and in three consecutive Olympic Games in 2008, 2012 and 2016. In Daegu 2011, he won the 200 meters and was the favorite in the 100, where he fell to a stolen start.
Similar superiority is unlikely to be seen for a while, if ever, but by the United States Noah Lyles will try for the kingship of the sprint distances this year at the World Championships in Budapest.
– There hasn’t been a double runner since Bolt and it’s about time. Why not me? Lyles spoke to AFP before the US championships, which are traditionally the country’s qualifying event for the World Cup tracks.
The 25-year-old Lyles has won the previous two 200m world championships, which has given him the confidence to expand his travel range.
– I tried to double in 2021 and I call it my worst year ever. Last year, 200 had such a strong hold that it was safe to bet on what satane needs.
The 2021 Tokyo Olympics were a disappointment by the American’s standards, with only a bronze medal in the 200m.
At the 2022 Home World Championships, Lyles made a splash when he ran 200m gold in 19.31. It broke by Michael Johnson A 26-year-old country record.
Merciless elimination
Lyles is not, unlike Bolt in his time, a clear favorite to win both distances.
Although all five 100-meter races of the season have gone under 10 seconds, Lyles’ statistical time is only 16th best. On the other hand, he has run 9.80 downwind, which would be the world’s top time.
– The coach and I have really honed the fastest phase of the run, because that’s where I make the biggest difference, Lyles told AFP.
At the moment, the first place in the statistics is held by the British record 9.83 pinkonut Zharnel Hughes.
However, Lyles has to earn a race ticket before he can fully go on the gold hunt.
In the 200 meters he has a personal place as the reigning world champion, but in the 100 meters he has to finish in the top three in the national championships.
In the frighteningly famous qualification system, old sea rites or times do not weigh. There are many athletes who qualify for statistics, and the elites say that the qualifiers are more exciting than the World Cup itself.
The purpose is to test the ability to withstand pressure, because the mental edge is just as central in value competitions. However, at worst it has happened, for example in 2016 Kendra Harrison was in superior shape in the 100-meter hurdles, but was sixth in the Olympic qualifiers.
Rio was out of the question, even though he broke the world record for the distance less than a month before the start of the Olympics.
The men’s 100-meter preliminaries will be run at the American championships on Thursday, and the semi-finals and final will be held Finnish time on the night between Friday and Saturday.
