Young Thomas died in Crépol a year ago. To pay tribute to him, an ultra-right collective will demonstrate on Saturday, despite the family’s reluctance.
The demonstration will finally take place. While the Drôme prefecture had banned the holding of a gathering in tribute to young Thomas, who died in Crépol on November 19, in Romans-sur-Isère for risking public order, the demonstration will finally take place. According to information from BFMTVthe order taken by the prefecture was finally suspended on Friday November 29.
This gathering is organized by the ultra-right collective “Justice for Ours”, which fights against “the ensavagement of our society”. A position that the teenager’s family does not share. Indeed, a gathering was initially scheduled to take place on November 19 in Romans-sur-Isère, one year to the day after the murder, but was postponed due to the reluctance of Thomas’s relatives. It was finally pushed back to November 30, at 3:30 p.m.
A murder that caused excesses
Although the perpetrator of the fatal stabbing of Thomas has still not been identified, 14 people have been indicted. They mainly come from the Monnaie district in Romans. It had been stormed by far-right activists after Thomas’ death, suspecting a racist crime, which was not proven by the investigation.
It is in this context of tension that the Drôme prefecture announced on Monday that gatherings would be banned this weekend. The collective quickly reacted on Monday noon by announcing “the filing of a freedom order” on social networks. Its members ultimately won their case. For the moment, the teenager’s bereaved family has not reacted to this authorization.
