The World Hockey Tournament was launched quite comfortably in Tampere and Helsinki, but there is room for improvement. Secretary General of the Games Heikki Hietanen says organizers are now honing the flow of viewers in particular. This applies to both race cities.

In the Tampere arena, it is astonishing that in Finnish games, the stands are gaping half empty at the beginning of the second and third rounds. It kills the atmosphere and creates the image that services and mobility are not working as well as they should.

– When there is such a crowd in the hall, queues are created. Some want to enjoy their refreshment in peace. Returning to the auditorium also depends terribly on the fact that there will be the first break after the start of the game, Hietanen explains.

There have been no major complaints about the services or mobility in the Secretary-General’s ears. In Tampere, the new arena has been built quite narrowly. It was already noticed in the first league match in December that the corridors should be even wider. At the most popular services, corridors become congested and traffic stops as people queue for food and drink and often enjoy their refreshments in the middle of the corridor.

– There has been a bit of a tweak in the corridors when the arena came over the train track, Hietanen admits.

He says that he received victorious praise and Wow exclamations from both spectators and teams about the Tampere framework. According to Hietanen, the organizers will further improve the placement of signs, for example.

– Removing spectators from the hall early in the evening after the match and refilling the hall for the Finnish Games on Friday and Saturday went even better than expected. It’s not quite simple when 8000 leaves and then 11000 comes.

In Helsinki, the organizers have increased the crowd to carry out security checks.

– There was a bit of congestion on Friday, but now we are all happy. Of course, practices are constantly being refined in many sectors.

Haloo Helsinki’s version of the song Maamme received a lot of attention at Finland’s World Cup opening on Friday. The rough version of the popular band was a daring bet from both the band and the organizers.

– It has clearly divided opinions and talked to people. I liked it myself. We did it a little differently than we are used to, Hietanen comments.
