Why are we seeing the Northern Lights now? The expert explains

There are probably few who have missed that these days it has been possible to witness the northern lights from basically all of Sweden, from Skåne in the south to Lapland in the north.

But why are we seeing it now? Northern lights enthusiast Calle Rosenqvist explains.

– The sun has its cycles called sunspot cycles. They are eleven years old and if you look at how it looks, we are currently in an upward trend. So right now it’s in a great position and will get better.

Calle Rosenqvist explains that the cycle lasts until 2025, after which it will slow down and we will have to wait for almost eleven years for the next Northern Lights festival.
