An almost 100 year old water pipe burst in Detroit.
It got a whole neighborhood to freeze to ice.
– It was just like on film, says Linda Hoskins, who is one of those affected.
On Monday, an underground water pipe burst into southwestern Detroit, which according to the BBC is almost 100 years old.
Thousands of liters of water flooded the area. With temperatures that collapsed to 21 minus degrees, the uneasy water froze almost immediately. Streets were turned into icy traps and cars were half under ice.
Linda Hoskins is one of those affected. Her basement was flooded over and on Wednesday she was completely without heat.
– It just poured in. I mean, the only thing I can say is that it was just like on film, she says.
According to officials, about 400 homes are in the flood zone.
