SMS was sent to hundreds of thousands of people, thousands of people lost their information to fraudsters! Last night, a much talked about statement came after the SMS warning given by both IMM and the Center for Combating Disinformation.
‘E-GOVERNMENT’ TRAP THAT MAKES THE DEVIL A FINGER
“THE BIGGEST CYBER ATTACK OF LAST TIMES”
Technology journalist Hakkı Alkan said that “one of the biggest cyber attacks of recent times” was carried out on Turkey and that the information of thousands of unconscious people was stolen.
“SMS SHOULD NOT BE SENT THAT EASY”
Alkan argued that last night’s incident was not a “simple incident” and said, “SMS messages should not be sent to hundreds of thousands of people so easily. The locality rate of our communication systems should be increased.”
DO NOT CLICK THIS LINK
Last night, an SMS was sent to many people’s phones from a number that appeared to be the IMM Cemeteries Department. The link and the panic-inducing warning in the SMS were just a trap for scammers.
In the SMS in question, “You have logged in with your e-Government Gateway password. If it does not belong to you, please check it.” The statement was included. It is stated that the information of those who thought the number and warning were real and clicked on the link was captured by fraudsters.
OFFICIAL INSTITUTIONS WARNED ONE AFTER ANOTHER
In the statement from Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, it was stated that “We kindly request that our citizens do not take any action regarding the message in question”, while the Center for Combating Disinformation stated that “It is aimed to capture the e-government information of the users through the link in the text message” and warned that only the notifications of official institutions should be respected.
