Who would have thought? Christopher Nolan loves Fast & Furious and he is particularly fond of the part with the worst reputation

Who would have thought Christopher Nolan loves Fast Furious

With blockbusters like Inception, The Dark Knight and, more recently, Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan has long been one of the greatest filmmakers of our time. In his private life, the director apparently likes to enjoy simpler action spectacles, as he explained in a new interview. Yes, Nolan loves the Fast & Furious series in all its variations!

Christopher Nolan has a soft spot for the Fast & Furious franchise

According to Collider, the director spoke as a guest on the Happy Sad Confused podcast about how he likes almost all parts of the action series with Vin Diesel & Co.:

I’m for the origin, the original by Rob Cohen. But I actually have a huge soft spot for Tokyo Drift. And as Justin Lin’s versions got crazier and bigger, they became something different, but something different that was kind of fun.

You read that right: Nolan even likes The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, which “enjoys” the worst reputation among many fans due, among other things, to the replacement of the main actor.

Perhaps Nolan fans will have to abandon their desire for him to direct a new Bond film. Perhaps the director would much rather come to the Fast & Furious universe. After the CGI storm of the last parts, he would probably lead the series back to more down-to-earth action with handmade effects.

What’s next for Nolan’s beloved action franchise in the cinema?

The tenth Fast & Furious part ended with a huge cliffhanger. In the USA, Fast & Furious 11 is scheduled to open in cinemas on April 4, 2025. A German start date has not yet been officially set.

Before part 11 there will be a spin-off with Jason Momoa’s character from Fast X, for which Dwayne Johnson will be back in front of the camera as Luke Hobbs after his surprising cameo appearance. Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Reyes doesn’t have a theatrical release yet, but should be released sometime in 2024.
