The next European Ecology Les Verts congress will be held on November 26 and December 10, 2022. At the end of these two days, the party will have updated its political orientation and renewed the composition of its bodies. Less than a month before the start of the congress, the favorite for the position of national secretary of EELV is Marine Tondelier. At 36, she is regional councilor for Hauts-de-France and municipal councilor for Hénin-Beaumont. His motion, La Suite, is supported by Julien Bayou, the current secretary, and by Éric Piolle, the mayor of Grenoble, reports RTL. Facing her, the main competitor is Mélissa Camara, supported, in particular, by Sandrine Rousseau. This elected member of the Lille municipal council is part of an intersectional movement and defends both ecology and feminism. His motion, called La Terre, had collected nearly 500 signatures on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.

Hélène Hardy, executive and federal councilor of EELV, is also a candidate. She defends a popular ecology with her motion, L’Arche. Lawyer Sophie Bussière is a candidate with the Green Spring motion, she counts Yannick Jadot among her supporters and has already received 600 signatures, according to information from France Blue Pays Basque. Another candidate, Claire Desmares, a farmer, president of the environmental group of the Brittany region, presents herself with the motion What binds us, which has more than 200 signatures. Géraldine Boÿer is also a candidate with the Rebellion motion, as well as Christine Surdon with Ecological Democracy.

Marine Tondelier is one of the candidates for the succession of Julien Bayou at the national secretariat of Europe Écologie Les Verts. In the motion The Suite she filed, she declares that she wants to serve the environmental movement, but also to refound EELV to better accommodate activists. She also wants to “embody a popular ecology that demands solutions for ALL”, she writes. On his side, Melissa Camarawith its motion Earth, claims to be feminist, radical and wishes to promote equality and territorial equity. She wants to “build a party in the image of society”, she says. Helen Hardy, another candidate, specified in her motion The Ark want to bet on degrowth and put Europe at the heart of the environmental project.

With Ecological Spring, Sophie Bussiere also hopes to refound EELV and wants to take over sovereign issues, such as security. The Breton farmer Claire Desmares defends a vision of radical ecology and wishes to put the territories at the center, as she details in her motion What binds us. Christine Surdon defends the Ecological Democracy motion, while Geraldine Boyer presents the Rebellion motion.

The internal elections for the EELV party will take place on November 26 and December 10, on the occasion of the party congress. The next national secretary of the party will therefore be known on December 10, 2022.

This is an internal party election. EELV members will vote, during a decentralized congress on November 26, 2022, for an orientation motion and several thematic motions. They will thus elect federal councilors and delegates to the federal congress. On December 10, the members of the federal congress will elect the members of the executive office.
