In WHO report, first published in the scientific journal The Lancet, it appears that 1.8 billion people in 2022 did not reach the levels of physical activity recommended.
A worrying trend is that the number of sedentary adults has increased by five percentage points since 2010, according to the WHO.
The recommendations are that adults should engage in 150 minutes of moderately intense exercise or 75 minutes of intense exercise per week.
– At moderate intensity, you find it somewhat exhausting. You get hot and it becomes a bit difficult to talk to the friend next to you, explains researcher Elin Ekblom Bak.
