More than 40 healthcare workers have been detained at the Kamal Adwan hospital in northern Gaza, the World Health Organization (WHO) says.
During Friday, the WHO announced that it had lost contact with the staff at the hospital, following reports of an Israeli raid.
Later in the evening, WHO Secretary-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said on X that contact had been regained with staff at the hospital, which was still under siege.
“Three healthcare workers and another employee have been injured, 44 healthcare workers have been detained and four ambulances damaged,” he wrote.
On Friday, the Gaza Ministry of Health stated that Israeli forces stormed the hospital. The ministry accused Israel of detaining hundreds, and said two children were killed in the raid.
Israel’s military has stated that it has forces that are in the area around the hospital, but that it was not aware of any attacks in the hospital area.
Around 600 patients, healthcare workers and other people are taking shelter in the hospital, according to the WHO director.
