Who is this RN executive elected to the European elections

Placed in 21st position on Jordan Bardella’s list, the departmental delegate of the National Rally in Guadeloupe Rody Tolassy was elected following the European elections to sit in Strasbourg.

Rody Tolassy sees his first European elections end in victory. The 36-year-old man entered the National Rally list in 21st position and was elected following the vote on June 9, 2024 thanks to the score obtained by Jordan Bardella. The departmental delegate of the RN in Guadeloupe is the second overseas representative designated by the president of the party to accompany him to the European Parliament.

The new 36-year-old MEP, departmental delegate of the National Rally since 2019, stood out in 2022, when he was filmed slapping an anti-racist activist opposed to the visit to Guadeloupe of Marine Le Pen, then presidential candidate. The same year, he collected a little more than 55% of the votes in the legislative elections for the commune of Sainte-Rose, beating the various left list of Max Mathasian. But Rody Tolassy’s commitment to the RN goes back much further: when he was younger, the Guadeloupean was at the head of the national front of the Youth of Guadeloupe (FNJ).

He predicted a “beating” for the State in the European elections

During the trip of Gérald Darmanin and Marie Guévenoux, Minister Delegate in charge of Overseas Territories to Guadeloupe last April, Rody Tolassy was particularly critical of the policy pursued by the government towards his island. The departmental delegate of the RN had notably mentioned the lack of resources in terms of maintaining order made available to the police in Guadeloupe, emphasizing that Guadeloupe is one of “the most criminogenic departments in France, if not is not the second”.

The RN activist went further by denouncing the lack of “political courage” of the State before asserting that the latter would take a “beating” in the European elections. He also took the opportunity to attack the elected officials of the Overseas Department, accusing them of not making the minister “face his responsibilities”.
