In the Grenoble metropolitan area, different rapes and sexual assaults could well have been perpetrated by the same individual. The modus operandi of the man nicknamed “the man with the scooter” was detailed by the prosecutor.
Nicknamed “the man with the scooter”, because of his means of transport, a young man whose identity is unknown, aged around twenty, is accused of sexual assault and rape on eight young women . In any case, this is the number of victims that the Grenoble police services would have counted in this affair which began several weeks ago, according to information from the Dauphiné released.
BFMTV for its part, mentions nine files which converge towards this same suspect: he is said to have committed at least four acts of violence, three rapes and two sexual assaults against young women living in Isère. The victims are all aged between 20 and 27 and were attacked between January 22 and March 16. The latest would have been attacked when leaving her building: the attacker would have grabbed her by the hair but a neighbor alerted by the screams would have made the attacker flee.
As relayed TF1 Info, the Grenoble public prosecutor spoke of a “violent” man who would systematically attack women late at night. These victims are allegedly attacked when they arrive home, when they return from work or from a party. The modus operandi is thus always the same: “The attacker, alone, dressed in black, mounted on a black scooter, spots his victims and follows them before attacking them,” detailed the prosecutor. In particular, he spots his victims in the street or on public transport. In some cases, he allegedly hit them with his scooter and then attacked them. He would also be armed with a knife.
The profile of the attacker
The events occurred in various places in the Grenoble metropolitan area, with the local daily reporting in particular on the commune bordering Grenoble, Saint-Martin-d’Hères, as well as the Saint-Bruno and Catane districts of the former capital of Dauphiné.
The Grenoble public prosecutor specified that the wanted man had the following profile: “20 years old, European type, without accent, around 1m70 and of normal build or even slightly plump, brown eyes, pale complexion and hair rather red.” Eric Vaillant assures that “the magistrates of the Grenoble public prosecutor’s office and all the Grenoble police officers are strongly mobilized on this investigation”, even if for the moment no police custody seems to have taken place.
