After the disturbing Darth Vader awakening at the end of the last episode, Obi-Wan Kenobi brings us the big Star Wars villain in full regalia. In the very first few minutes of the third chapter he is put together before he is on the barren planet Mapuzo Obi-Wan for the first time since Revenge of the Sith.

The meeting of the two Star Wars characters is the clear highlight of the episode. In addition, a very special name is mentioned: When the unexpected ally Tala (Indira Varma) tells about the underground network The Path, Obi-Wan (Ewan McGregor) learns that Jedi Master Quinlan Vos is still alive.

Obi-Wan Kenobi: Who is Jedi Master Quinlan Vos?

Quinlan Vos first appeared in The Phantom Menace, but didn’t have a major role at the time. In fact, he is Jedi from the planet Kiffu only briefly seen in the background. Nevertheless, a large group of fans formed around him: after his debut, Quinlan was a part of numerous Star Wars books.

Quinlan Vos in The Clone Wars

Although these books are no longer part of the official canon, Quinlan never erased from Star Wars history. On the contrary: he makes a brief appearance and is mentioned several times in the animated series The Clone Wars. His name also appears in Revenge of the Sith. But he didn’t make it into the film in person.

Quinlan Vos: From the Clone Wars to Obi-Wan Kenobi

Quinlan suffered a great loss early in the Clone Wars when his master was killed in battle. In The Clone Wars, he hunted down gangster Ziro the Hutt with Obi-Wan (Season 3, Episode 9). His greatest adventure was in the novel Dark side student by Christie Golden.

  • Special ability: Quinlan Vos possesses the extremely useful power ability Psychometrics. With this he can learn more about the history of objects by touching them.
  • Together with the later villain Asajj Ventress, Quinlan is supposed to eliminate Count Dooku, who has defected to the Sith, on behalf of the Jedi. However, the attack goes wrong. As a result, Quinlan will seduced by the dark side of the force. Only his love for Ventress leads him back into the light.

    Also in that recently published Roman Brotherhood by Mike Chen, which deals with the relationship between Obi-Wan and Anakin, Quinlan makes an appearance. In the third episode of Obi-Wan Kenobi it is revealed that he survived Order 66 and is now protecting younglings from the Empire.
