The 2023 edition of Eurovision was held in Liverpool, UK, this Saturday, May 13 and saw singer Loreen crowned big winner with her song “Tatoo”!
Sweden wins its seventh victory at Eurovision 2023! This Saturday, May 13, the great European singing competition was held. And at the end of an evening made of music, sequins and kangaroo briefs, it is therefore the singer Loreen with her song Tattoo who took the win. With 583 points, the Swedish flag bearer beat, at the last moment, Finland (526 points) and Israel (362 points), second and third disappointed in this 2023 edition.
A doubly symbolic victory for Loreen, who becomes the second candidate to win Eurovision twice since the beginning of the competition, after Johnny Logan, an Australian singer who represented Ireland, who participated and won twice, in 1980 and 1987. Next year, Sweden will therefore host the 2024 edition of Eurovision, a year which will also mark, it is symbolic, the 40th anniversary of ABBA’s victory. The mythical group had won the victory in 1974, in Brighton, in the United Kingdom, with the song Waterloo.
Lorine Zineb Nora Talhaoui, better known by the simple name of Loreen, was born on October 16, 1983, in Stockholm, Sweden, to Moroccan parents. Singer, dancer, pianist and producer, she made her name in her debut in the Swedish version of Nouvelle Star, in 2004, then took part in Eurovision in 2012, winning in Baku, Azerbaijan, with the song Euphoria. A feat renewed in 2023 therefore.
On the French side, La Zarra and her song Obviously, will have to settle for 16th place in the standings. They were 37 candidate countries on the starting line of this 2023 vintage, but 26 were able to perform during this grand final on Saturday, after having qualified in the semi-finals (or automatically for the Big Five, the largest financial contributors to Eurovision, including France).
