For better or worse, fan favorites can make new appearances in the Star Wars universe decades later. That’s what happened in the second season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch. The cute Jedi Wookie Gungi returns. But who is the shaggy Baby Yoda competitor?

Gungi was last seen 10 years before Star Wars: The Bad Batch

Gungi made his first appearance in 2012 in the fifth season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. First there is a young padawan who is sent with his comrades to the planet Ilum, to construct his own lightsaber. On the way back he has to keep various annoying pirates at bay.

In The Bad Batch he is some time later fell into the hands of a ruthless cartel, from which the ex-clones free him in no time. Their plan involves reuniting the Wookie with his people on the homeworld of Kashyyyk. But the planet must first be protected from a group of brutal mercenaries.

As can be seen from the Twitter reactions, many Star Wars fans are excited about his return. After all, it was anything but safe. After all, between the events of The Clone Wars and The Bad Batch lies the infamous Order 66 massacre, in which many Jedi and their students perished.

The Bad Batch Season 2 on Disney+: Will there be more Gungi soon?

Whether his fans will soon get Gungi supplies seems questionable. His appearance in The Bad Batch seems more or less complete, an appearance in upcoming Star Wars projects is unclear. But we may see each other again soon. Episode 7 of The Bad Batch Season 2 will air on February 8, 2023 released on Disney+.
