Gandhi (1869-1948), remains one of the most famous figures of the 20th century. Apostle of non-violence, father of India’s independence, Gandhi the wise man nevertheless proved to be a difficult being to live with for his family and his entourage, by imposing on them the ascetic mode of existence he had selected. But above all we must not reduce Gandhi to his shadowy side. This character, bright and charismatic, made his life a message for future generations.
