Clea first appears in Strange Tales 126, published in August 1964. The character was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, who shaped this universe, including the character of many Marvel stories we are watching now.
Clea is a hybrid character. She is able to use both the powers of beings named Faltine and the Dark Dimension. She is the daughter of Prince Orini, the son of Olnar, the former ruler of the Dark Dimension, which we also saw in the Doctor Strange movie, and Umar, the sister of Dormammu, who we can call the villain of the first movie.
In other words, this character’s uncle Dormammu, friends, shows us how important he is. Of course, there is also the possibility of making a difference in these family relations within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Or, in the 3rd movie, the characters here can be introduced in more detail and we can reach much more information about the Dark Dimension.
Here we need to underline that Umar is a Faltine. An important detail for the origin of the character. Because these beings who are Faltine are actually beings who are made of pure magic, born and living in a dimension in a universe with the same name.
Clea’s birth creates a lot of problems for her mother, Umar, because after this birth, Umar loses her ability to return to her Faltin form. This traumatizes him and he leaves Clea and Orini. He also does not neglect to stand up to Dormammu during this abandonment.
But because he lost his form and became weak, he was defeated and exiled. Unknown to her mother, Clea grows up out of Dormammu’s shadow, even though her father serves faithfully.
Story
We’ve already seen Dormamu’s story, indeed its purpose, in the first movie. He is a being trying to conquer all universes and worlds. Just like in the first movie, in the comics, Doctor Strange goes to the Dark Dimension, this time at the request of the Ancient One, to prevent this purpose. She catches the attention of Clea, who lives here as she travels to the Dark Dimension.
Aware of Dormammu’s power, Clea makes some attempts to prevent Doctor Strange’s death as soon as she learns of this purpose, but fails because our doctor risks death for her cause. Dormammu, who learned this action, must have said “you are my nephew, how could you betray me” so he imprisons Clea.
During the big fight between Strange and Dormammu, the beings called Mindless One (to be the subject of another article) that are kept under control here are released, and this time the two facing each other have to cooperate to stop them.
After this collaboration, Dormommu, who displays an honorable villain stance even though they are not bros, releases Clea in return for Doctor Strange’s support and promises not to touch the Earth.
Of course, this situation is a temporary truce and we witness Dormammu attacking Earth again in the following numbers. Of course, we also see the character of Clea in all these stories in which Baron Mordo is also actively involved.
The events here go back to Dormammu’s disappearance, but I don’t want it to stray too far from the topic, Clea, to evolve into Dormammu’s story. The important thing is to learn how the two characters from many stories, including the events of the Reality War, met.
