The incubation period from infection to symptoms is about 6 to 13 days.

The monkey cup infection is divided into two periods. The first few days you can get fever, headache, swollen lymph nodes, muscle pain and back pain.

Thereafter, symptoms such as blisters, sores and rashes appear. They usually sit on the face, palms, arms and legs and around the mouth and genitals.

The symptoms usually last for 2 to 4 weeks.

Most people do not need treatment, but there are medications that can relieve the symptoms in severe cases.

The disease is mainly transmitted by close physical contact with an infected person. There are also suspicions that it can be spread via cutlery, plates, bedding and towels used by someone infected.

It is not yet known whether monkey pox can also be spread by infected people who have not yet had any symptoms.
