For the past two years, the Pirate Society has not been able to keep the announcement as usual at the pump house in Vollsjö due to the pandemic, but this year everything will go according to tradition.
Fritiof Nilsson Piraten (1895-1972) was a lawyer and author. He made his debut with “Bombi Bitt och jag” in 1932.
Since 1989, the Pirate Prize has been awarded to cultural personalities who have worked in the spirit of the Pirate, and since 2020 the prize money has been SEK 150,000.
Previous winners include Kristina Lugn, Gösta Ekman, Lasse Åberg, Carin Mannheimer and Bodil Malmsten.
The winner will receive the prize during Pirate Day in Kivik in July.
