Who dies and who survives The Walking Dead? The 8 biggest questions before the series finale

Who dies and who survives The Walking Dead The 8

The Walking Dead fans have been waiting for this moment for over 12 years. Next week, after 177 episodes, we will find out how the story of a group of people who merge into a family unit in the midst of the zombie apocalypse and fight for survival together will end – at least for the time being.

The very last episode, entitled Rest in Peace, will close a series era. Expectations are high for the ending, which will be released next Monday on Disney+*. To be ideally prepared for the epic series finale, we have you the 8 biggest questions compiled, to which The Walking Dead will hopefully provide answers.

1. Rick, Michonne and Co: Who will all be coming back?

There’s no question that fans before The Walking Dead’s end burn more on their souls than those after Andrew Lincoln’s performance as Rick Grimes. But maybe the series finale still has it more surprising cameos in stock? We already got a taste of what surprise appearances in the world of The Walking Dead can look like in Season 9 with the nostalgic and emotional Rick farewell episode.

The series could now use Judith’s (Cailey Fleming) critical health condition to… popular characters from the last 12 years Bringing back The Walking Dead in the form of hallucinations or dream forms, the Judith appear delirious. That way we could also see Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Rick again without their performance becoming problematic for their upcoming spin-off.

2. Will Daryl FINALLY find out that Rick is still alive?

In Season 10, Michonne went in search of Rick. She discovered that he might actually still be alive. She shared this monumental realization with her daughter Judith via radio. The but has apparently kept this secret to himself to this day and lets her foster father Daryl (Norman Reedus) believe his “brother” Rick is dead. The Walking Dead was not to end without Daryl learning the truth.

3. Will the CRM and helicopters show up again?

Across three The Walking Dead series, a great mystery surrounding the Civic Republic Military (CRM) built. The CRM and the Civic Republic are America’s most dangerous and powerful community. The Commonwealth, on the other hand, is a joke. But in the final season it doesn’t matter at all. That could change after some clear clues in the finale.

Not just hiding a helicopter in the opening credits last season, it was also established that the Commonwealth has a secret ally. Did Pamela Milton (Laila Robins) actually deliver guns and people to the CRM by train? It would be strange if this The Walking Dead supremacy no longer appeared.

4. Who will all die and who will survive to the end?

Even if the survival of some characters is guaranteed thanks to the announced spin-offs, we can still fear for the fate of numerous characters one last time. Because so far, season 11 has been remarkably reticent when it comes to the shocking deaths of beloved main characters. After episode 23 there are even a few more names on the list List of possible death row inmates:

  • Will we the grumpy Jerry to lose?
  • Becomes Lydia not survive their amputation?
  • He is lying Judith her serious gunshot wound?
  • And will Pamela Milton got what she deserved in the end?

    Will Rosita survive the end?

In addition, the trailer for the series finale hints at possibly the biggest loss of season 11. Then Rosita (Christian Serratos) and her daughter Coco float surrounded by the undead in mortal danger. It would certainly be a tragic farewell for many fans if Rosita, who has been with us since season 4, actually dies.

    5. Will Rick’s iconic comic speech make it to the finals?

Nearing the end of The Walking Dead comics, Rick wraps up the conflict over the Commonwealth with a motivational speech and the words “We Are NOT The Walking Dead‘ and prevent another war. But now Rick is no longer part of the plot.

Still, will the show find a way to adapt this iconic goose bumps moment from the comics? An interesting possibility would be that Judith Grimes takes on the role of her father and ended the fight with Pamela Milton. Her voice over in each of the last few episodes already hints at this.

    6. How to defeat the huge zombie horde?

Before The Walking Dead ends, there is one massive final battle worthy of a finale. The Commonwealth is being overrun by a horde of undead more dangerous and unpredictable than before. But how should this huge fight be handled within one episode? A surprising one would be possible Appearance of the CRM at the last second.

    7. Will there be a time warp at the end of The Walking Dead?

After the undead attack, much of the Commonwealth will be reduced to rubble. Therefore, it stands to reason that the series could make a time jump at the end. So we could end up with a bittersweet happy ending Look at the new status quo of the life of the remaining characters.

Judith fights for a better future

Maybe then we’ll finally see the future the Grimes family has been fighting for all these years and for which Carl Grimes once sacrificed his life. The comics also ended with a time jump, which, however, encompassed 25 years. We will probably not look that far into the future. After all, more TWD series are coming soon.

    8. How are The Walking Dead spin-offs being prepared?

When one door closes, three new ones open. At least that’s how it is in the case of The Walking Dead. Because after the end of the main series will be in the coming year three new spinoffs be seen – and two of them take place after the events of the series finale.

Many fans are therefore wondering whether The Walking Dead uses the end to to tease upcoming chapters of zombie saga. Will characters like Maggie, Negan and Daryl be sent down new paths by the end, or will the series leave us feeling unprepared for the sequel with a sense of completion?
