Monkey pox, known as one of the rare diseases caused by an endemic virus, is divided into 2 types: Congo and West Africa.

The virus, which is usually transmitted from animal to human and rarely from person to person, can cause high fever and itchy blisters on the body.

WHO declared the monkeypox epidemic, which continues to spread in the world, especially in Europe, as an International Public Health Emergency (PHEIC) on 23 July.

In the statement made by WHO on 27 July, it was reported that more than 18 thousand cases from 78 countries were confirmed, with 70 percent of the cases from the European region and 25 percent from the Americas region. (AA)
