A new citizen convention will be organized from June 2025. The draw for citizens who will be invited to participate on Monday.

After the media convention of climate citizens in 2020 and that on the end of life in 2023, a new citizen agreement aimed at mobilizing collective intelligence is currently organized. Announced on May 2 by Emmanuel Macron himself, this citizen convention organized by the Economic, social and environmental council (CESE) will relate this time to “Children’s times”. It will be launched on June 20, 2025 and will aim to answer the following question, formulated by Prime Minister François Bayrou: “How to better structure the different times in the daily life of children so that they are more favorable to their learning, their development and their health?”

While seven work sessions spread between June and November 2025 are planned, it has been assured that teachers and other school heads, as well as parents, local elected officials, sports and cultural associations or medico-social and economic experts, but also around twenty children and young people aged 12 to 17, will be associated with the work.

Citizen Convention obliges, no less than 130 citizens must be drawn to participate. The draw began on Monday, May 19. Who can be appointed? Concretely, “any adult with a telephone line and living in mainland France or in overseas territories, is likely to be contacted”, notes the site Public life. Nevertheless, a representative panel of the French must also be guaranteed. In other words, citizens drawn by lot will still meet certain criteria. No less than six were retained: sex, age, place of residence (rather urban or rural), the region of origin, the level of diploma and the socio -professional category. The idea is to avoid being with, for example, that women from Brittany and residents in big cities.
