It is the symbol of Wimbledon. To respect the aristocratic origins of tennis at the end of the 19th century, and to put players on an equal footing, players are forced by the All England Club to play in white. Off-white or cream is prohibited. For colors, a single strip of 1 cm maximum on the edge of sleeves, shorts or skirts is authorized. In 2013, Roger Federer upset the All England Club with his white shoes which had orange soles.
